I'm participating in a challenge this week for Oklahoma Women Bloggers. Today's installment is about the love of knick knacks.
When I was a child, I remember going to my grandma's house and all the knick knacks she had. My mom always had knick knacks sitting around too.
My first collection was penguins. I just couldn't get over those little tuxedo'd birds. Then came the dragons, specifically blown glass dragons. In my early 20's my grandma passed on her collection of cat figurines to me.
Then came the Vaseline glass, the green kind. And the series of children figurines with bible verses on the bottom, and the angels, Santa's, and probably some items I'm forgetting.
While I still have my collections, not all of them are displayed. My angels are displayed in our bedroom, my Vaseline glass is in my china cabinet. A few special items are in my kitchen area.
All of my items bring back memories when I look at them. Even if the only time I touch them is when I'm dusting.
What do you collect? Do you have knicks sitting around or are they put away till your kids are grown?

My grandma LOVED clown figurines...it was almost creepy because her bedroom was full of them. It was like they watched me sleep when I spent the night! EEK!! LOL... fun post!
ReplyDeleteClowns give me the creeps too! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeletePenguins! :-)
ReplyDeleteI still have some. At one point I was a big Opus collector. :-)

Clowns? Ultimate freaky. And what is this dusting that you speak of?? ;) Great post! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDusting? Something I don't do nearly often enough. LOL

I have collected quite a few knick knacks in my time. My biggest collection is thimbles, which a big amount of them were gifts to me from my grandma so are very special. My latest collection has been the Willow Tree figurines.
ReplyDeleteBeth, what a special collection! I have some Willow Tree figures too. Can't believe I forgot to mention those.
